The C-Mul^® package enhances the properties of water-based drilling fluids resulting in improved drilling rates and wellbore stabilization. The package combines two key components: C-Mul^® and Mulsperse^® creating an effective, high performance emulsion-based drilling fluid.

Manufactured with a polyalphaolefin (PAO) synthetic hydrocarbon base, C-Mul^® is formulated to improve rate of penetration (ROP), hole/shale stability, and inhibition.  The use of PAOs in drilling fluid additives is patent protected by Sun Drilling Products Corporation.  C-Mul^® is easily added to water-based fluids with a minimal amount of mixing and agitation.  The product is compatible with both fresh and salt water systems and has no adverse effect on the LC₅₀ value of the system.  C-Mul^® coats the formation and metal parts with a hydrophobic layer of PAO minimizing balling and wear.

Mulsperse^® is a dispersant which completes the emulsion by coupling any synthetic hydrocarbon into a stable oil-in-water fluid package.  It is very effective in dispersing solid hydrocarbons, such as gilsonite and asphaltic materials, preventing clumping or agglomerating in water-based fluids.

C-Mul^® with its unique rheological profile has remarkably improved lubricity in several types of drilling fluid systems including deep-water applications.  The product reduces torque and drag; effectively improving drilling rates, while not adversely affecting the rheological properties of the drilling fluid system.
