Gumbo Shield^® is a proprietary blend of stabilizing and film forming polymers which provides a highly non-dispersive environment for “gumbo” shales.  Gumbo Shield^® does not affect the rheology of the mud, tends to lower the API filtrate, and may be added to any water base drilling fluid without adversely affecting the existing properties.

Packaging:

Gumbo Shield^® is available in 55-gallon drums, 550-gallon bulk containers or disposable tote tanks. 

Product Recommendation and Mixing Procedures:

Treatment vary according to the penetration rate, the hole volume and the severity of the “gumbo”.  Since Gumbo Shield^® reacts with the “gumbo” through absorptive action, a constant level of concentration, generally 3% to 6% by volume should be maintained while drilling the troublesome zone.
